Welp

@hananoir moves out at the end of the week, and we still have to figure out how to get our furniture down. Thanks to @tinyfiestyrosiekitten I was able to keep my car for another month as my check comes in, however- we’re now dealing with the day to day issues. My check came in, and covered our over-draft fees to basically $-5.00 in the account right now- which I can show you if anyone wants receipts.

However, Hana is still without a car- and depending on me for things like dog food, food for herself, and other things- and even with my sister helping me- she’s still having to support a household herself. If you can, please give her a little bit. She’s looking for work, and still trying to keep herself going. Thankfully, we were able to afford a month of her medication. She has applied for aid, and for unemployment- and we’re all waiting for approval.

But any little bit helps.

I really hate to keep asking you guys, but honestly- with their and your help, it’s the only reason we’re not in utter financial ruin right now. We’ve put in for our tax returns, but they haven’t been approved yet- so that’s still up in the air.

Donate to Hana here

Offer a Ko-fi here

Thank you, love.  I hate having to ask for help over and over, but it’s going to get better.  And once it does, we’re totally going to start paying it forward and helping others when we can.  Love to everyone who’s been helping far by buying things, donating to PayPal, or even just signal boosting for us.  The weather is clearing up a little bit so I’m about to walk over to the Family Dollar and pick up a bag of dog food for Rozie.  Again… Thank you all so much!

Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.

It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

no white gay boy will ever reblog this, watch:

no white gay will reblog this

no white lgb person will reblog this

Without Stonewall, without the efforts of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the LGBTQ Community wouldn’t be where it is today. Don’t forget the roots, don’t forget the catalyst.

and then TERFs wanna be like, “hmm well the LGBT community existed before Stonewall!”

but like…Becky, of course LGBTQ+ people existed before Stonewall. We’ve all existed since the beginning of time. But the movement got a shock to its senses, a jump-start, a rocket-into-space when that glass shattered via Marsha P. Johnson, and when Sylvia Rivera was up on-stage protesting guess who was on the sidelines heckling her?

The same fuckers who won’t ever reblog or acknowledge this

My apologies to the original poster as I photo captured this post to add to the thread-I reposted this last year for pride and expect to repost it every year I have left-it’s our history people.

Update on the Situation…

Thanks so much to all who have helped out!  I’m currently at $235 in my PayPal.  I have until Thursday to come up with the full $938 or my car goes to auction.  I’m going out with my trainer tomorrow, she’s being really fantastic and coming to pick me up so that we can go out and try to make some sales.  So, yeah, that’s where things are at.  Fingers crossed that we can make some sales.  If I can make sales and get them in by Monday, I get paid Tuesday.  I’m not even sweating the rent at this point. I’m just desperately trying to get my car back.  We can put our stuff in storage… I just really need my car. ><  *sigh*  Please, signal boost this for me folks?  Love to you all!

(If anyone is in the Dallas-Ft Worth area and interested in some really fantastic supplemental insurance, shoot me a message here and I’ll try to find a way to get with you!!)

Update on the update!  We’re up to $327.04 in PayPal.  Praying like crazy that tax returns come in. Gonna cal Moday to see if maybe, maybe, maybe they can give me a few more days, at least hold out until my income tax return comes in. ><

Reblog support. If you donate at least $10 and let me know, I’ll write a drabble of your choosing to be at least 500 words.  Provided I know the ‘verse, there is nothing I will not write.

If you want to stay anonymous, you can let me know you donated in an ask.  I believe in the honor system.  (Please don’t lie for ficlets, that just makes you a jerk.)

“When Trump made office it put the fear back into the idea of it all. These kids were feeling fear for the first time and had never been touched. Why? Because we worked so hard to make sure they were never touched.”

This is Lynn Koval. She’s owned a gay bar in Biloxi, Mississippi for over twenty years.

I started writing down quotes from this interview, but eventually gave up because I SWEAR every single thing she said was quotable. She talks about the challenges of building intergenerational community, the continued importance of gay bars, knowing our history, and her hope for our future. Listen to her. It’s such a breath of fresh air to hear people covering LGBTQ issues and history in the American South. We don’t all live on the coasts, y’all.

Important stuff y’all

OK but gay country music would go so hard though. Ladies singing about the girl in cut offs sitting next to them in their truck, dudes singing about showing off for the farmers son, bi people singing about how the county fair is hot but it ain’t cause of the heat. 90% of country music could be fixed if we removed the heteronormativity

The other 10% of country music is fine just the way it is cause that’s the 10% that’s women singing about killing their abusive husbands.

If you don’t like a work by a fanfic author, that’s okay.

If you find the subject matter in a fanfic is not to your taste, that’s okay.

If I personally read something and find I don’t like it for any reason, I simply close the tab and move on with my life.

And, full disclosure: I do this often! There’s a lot of stuff out there that is Just Not For Me. There are some fics out there that are wildly popular that I just personally don’t get their mass appeal, and there are some fics out there that I feel are absolute hidden gems and I will recommend them often.

That being said, the one thing I never, ever, ever do is publicly disparage another author’s writing or narrative choices or their work as a whole. Even if I think their writing style is not to my liking, or I feel they they make spelling and grammar errors that are distracting, even if I think the sex is badly written, or the plot is boring, or if I think they have written the characters in a way I disagree with. If they don’t ask for concrit, I don’t give it. I don’t give any criticism unsolicited.

It really, really is disappointing and upsetting when I see folks, especially people who are writers themselves, publicly trashing other authors’ works on tumblr and/or leaving shitty comments on their AO3 chapters. I have had this happen to me before and it really does not feel good. Even if it’s just a “I didn’t care for this fic”, the fact that someone took the time out of their day to tell me so was unnecessary and upsetting. What is the purpose, I wonder, of telling someone something like that?

Fanfic authors write things for you for no money, for your entertainment. They write for fun and enjoyment and to share their enthusiasm about a fandom with others. Writing is hard work, y’all! It is truly a labour of love and I will never shit on any author that puts pieces out there and tries their best even if I don’t care for it. Not everyone is going to produce works that are specifically to everyone’s aesthetic tastes, avoiding everyone’s specific squicks or triggers. Nor should they.

Yeah, fandom is not your safe space, sure, but – we don’t have to treat one another poorly, either. Be kind to one another, friends.

GOFUNDME: SAVE OUR NAVAJO LANGUAGE

“I never learned my Navajo language and I was never inspired to learn it.  As I got older, I realized how valuable our language is to the livelihood of our Navajo Nation. ” -Dr. Shawna L. Begay

Our Navajo or Diné language is in danger of becoming extinct.  Help us create and develop the first Navajo-English educational media TV puppet show, “Diné Bí Ná’álkid Time” which means ‘The Navajo Movie Time.’  It will inspire and teach our youth basic language skills using media as a technology tool. Parents, grandparents, children and grandkids can learn to speak Navajo  fluently together within their own homes.

Long-time friends and educators, Dr. Shawna L. Begay and Charmaine Jackson have teamed up to create this new TV pilot for an all-ages audience or for anyone who wants to learn the Navajo language.

With your support, it’ll be the first educational Navajo and English puppet show that will teach and preserve the Navajo language and culture through digital media.

After several years of extensive research on the Navajo Nation, Dr. Begay recently completed her PhD from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with her doctorate thesis, ‘Developing A Navajo Media Guide: A Community Perspective.’ As project director, she quickly realized she was a pioneer on the topic.

“When I decided what topic to study I realized there existed very little research in Indigenous educational media, especially with our Navajo people,” stated Dr. Begay.  “As Navajo people, we have our own learning objectives and Navajo way of knowing is completely different for Euro-Western schooling.  I decided that I had to research and develop our own curriculum guide that is meant to teach Navajo through media.”

Dr. Begay and Jackson, co-writers of the show, developed the first 3-puppet characters and plan for many more. The pilot features Nanabah-a young Navajo girl, Gáh (Rabbit) and Dlǫ̀ǫ̀ (Prairie Dog) who will go on endless adventures learning about language, gardening, the environment and the importance of family values. Nanabah is fluent in Navajo and likes to teach children about life on the reservation with her animal friends and special guests.  Children who want to learn Navajo will also be an important part of the show by interacting with Nanabah, her friends and storyline.

Dr. Begay’s research concluded there exists very little research in the area of Indigenous educational media. Currently media is a very powerful tool that can be used to teach. She is cognizant of the digital age we live in and the opportunities to utilize media to revitalize the Navajo language.

“Star Wars and Finding Nemo,” dubbed in Navajo, was a great place to start and it has garnered national exposure of our language. However, we need a show based on our own Navajo learning principals our ancestors set out for us to learn and live by. I don’t think a non-Navajo, non-Native or non-Indigenous person can do that for us, nor should they.  We, as Navajo, need to produce this show ourselves, if we are to be truly sovereign,” added Dr. Begay.

Both educators, Dr. Begay and Jackson, of Naalkid Productions have been talking about this educational language project for about the past four years and still have a long way to go to finance their dream.

“With the support of Navajo TV Anchor Colton Shone, our team of Navajo artists, filmmakers, family and friends, this video pilot is a huge step forward,” said Jackson.  “Our journey has just begun and the big next step is finding financial support to create a whole new puppet TV series.”

We aim to raise $50,000 with this project which will allow us to continue with pre-production and production aspects of making this digital media project become a reality.  We need your help to save our language by teaching Navajo to our future generations.

Pre-Production:
-Script writing for the pilot show
-Puppet Development/Creation
-Casting for puppeteers and other talent that will be on screen
-Hiring of all key cast and crew

Production:
-Locations and permits
-Rental of Studio space
-Equipment: cameras, sound, lights, etc.
-Cast and Crew budget

Despite all the notes on this post, they’re still at $13,155 of their $50,000 goal.

Please keeping sharing and donate if you can!

the thing about writing fantasy stories is that language is so based on history that it can be hard to decide how far suspension of disbelief can carry you word-choice wise – what do you call a french braid in a world with no france? can a queen ann neckline be described if there was no queen ann? where do you draw the line? can you use the word platonic if plato never existed? can you name a character chris in a land without christianity? can you even say ‘bungalow’ in a world where there was no indian language for the word to originate from? is there a single word in any language that doesn’t have a story behind it? to be accurate a fantasy story would be written in a fantasy language but who has the time for that

Tolkien had the time apparently

LIsten. Linguistics Georg, who invented over 10,000 conlangs each day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.
