Hello, you have been identified as An Awesome Fic Writer™. Congrats, you rock! So that all of your readers can shower you with some extra love today, please tell us your favourite five stories of yours and why you like them and then send this to another five fic authors you think deserve this title!

…Aw!

Hmm, okay… In no particular order:

1. Delicacy (Transformers, co-written with gatekat) – I poured my heart and soul into this one.  It explores extreme darkness and trauma recovery while still being able to have a truly happy ending, and I just love the characters so much.

2. The Most Unlikely of Events (Transformers, co-written with gatekat) – The worldbuilding and cultural exploration in this one is really interesting to me.  I loved getting to play with social taboos and how they would affect a G1 ‘Bot ending up in Bayverse, and how two bereaved souls can heal each other.

3. Sanctuary (Criminal Minds) – I’m not a big AU writer, truly, but this one just grabbed me and would not let go.  Catholic Priest Reid and SSA Hotchner learning how to be together, and I’m still very proud of how I looped it into canon.  I do intend to finish this one, someday.

4. The Hour of Separation (Guardians of the Galaxy) – Ugh, my love.  This fic CONSUMED me.  I love the idea of how to get Rocket and Yondu some time together without breaking from or affecting canon.  And making Rocket’s pain worse?  Yes please.  Rocket’s voice really came alive for me in this one.

5. Sacred Made Profane (Transformers) – My other love.  I mean they’re all my love, but.  There’s an intensity to this one that I adore.  Jazz and Prowl are both so broken in this one, and the plot developed out of nowhere on me. And it’s so fun to hurt Jazz in this one, the way he wants to be hurt.  Also working on finishing this one.

I truly hope this won’t come out as offensive or annoying… I’ve been following you for a long time, from the TF fandom, and your fics are a delight every time. I’ve noticed you haven’t posted anything TF related for a while, and so I wonder if you simply moved into other things… It’s ok if you did, I won’t mind :) I simply wish to know where you stand. Thanks *hug*

There is actually a TF fic that I’m betaing at the moment that hasn’t been posted yet (another Jazz/Prowl/Radiance AU – we couldn’t keep away from them).  But I did have another fandom swoop in and chew my brain up, you’re right. I do think I’ll head back to Transformers when that one has ebbed a bit.  The vague (and often nonexistent) canon in G1 Transformers makes it a very tempting universe to play in, and there is a wonderful array of worldbuilding to explore.  The Marvel universe, conversely, has a LOT of canon which I find makes for a bit more difficult sandbox to play in.

As for when, though, I’m not sure.  Historically, I have fluctuated through reading periods and writing periods, and when I’m in one the other is difficult to even do. This has been an unprecedentedly long writing period for me so I’m expecting a reading period to rear its head any time, and wonder if the fandom change was the beginning of that, because I’ve been reading a lot of Marvel fic and fics are usually the start of it.

tl;dr I’m highly confident that I will return to TF eventually but I am not sure when!

#29?

29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

Hum, interesting. Although, actually, yeah I do know what that would be.  I’ve always had a bunny that hops around for a sequel for The World’s Translated Thus by Abyssal1.  The ending just has so much interesting potential to it!

Delicacy – 2, 3, 7, 11, 14? :D

2 – What’s my favorite part of the fic?

Waaaah.  Umm.  Damn, god.  I’m actually very fond of Stratus’s illness, the progression and the moment everything gives way, when he’s collapsed, burning up, panting.  The terror in that moment is probably my favorite.

3 – What’s the part of the fic I’m most proud of?

The absolute horrifying darkness of it, and the way the villains aren’t really “villains” – more equatable to farmers.  The parallels between what happens to the seekers and livestock, and how all it takes is not thinking of something as a person to be able to do that.  Not in a way that is supposed to draw a parallel between a cow and a person, but rather in a way that illuminates the simple mental step that it takes to treat a person like a cow while not feeling like one is doing anything wrong.

7 – Were there any major decisions I made about the fic that could have made it go a whole different direction?

Hmm… I think I remember Starscream rescuing Stratus was a very spur-of-the-moment decision which would have changed a LOT of things.

11 – If I were to rewrite this fic, what would I change?

I’d take out a lot of the time spent on Jazz and Prowl.  A sequel had been intended, but creative differences on how to plot that out prevented it from ever taking form.

14 – If I were to write a sequel to this fic, what would it be about?

I’ve actually been thinking about this for a long time.  Something focused on the creations.  Someday I do think I will write when they finally learn the truth of their origins. I’d also like to look more into Stratus.  His illness weakened him to a point where he has to wear braces on his wings in order to fly; Fyat likes to tease him about them and sometimes will fly just out of reach with them, but would cut anyone else for doing the same thing.  THey’re sort of the equivalent of arm crutches for humans.  I’d like to explore that as he ages, look into the responses that creates in other Seekers.

13 and 20? :D

13. Favorite fic from another author?

I think I have to go with The World’s Translated Thus by Abyssal1.  It’s long, and intense, with a heaping dose of language barriers and culture and how language shapes culture and vice versa and forbidden romance (Optimus/Starscream, of course) and dazzlingly brilliant and unique ideas on the universe, with a delicious helping of Starscream torture and angst and overall bad-assery.  But it’s hard to choose between that and The Last by ladydragon76.  As little as human pregnancy and procreation interest me, it fascinates me with robots, and I’m drawn to stories that explore the grief of losing a child.  My younger brother died of complications following surgery to remove a butterfly brain tumor when I was 4 years old and starting to explore the world creatively, and my creative energy at that point all went into trying to understand what was happening and what I was seeing my parents go through.  That hasn’t changed as a creative interest and outlet, and The Last touched me very deeply and is beautifully crafted.  Plus, OTP.

20. 4 sentences from your work that you’re proud of

This is the one that took me forever.  I’ve hit a huge slump that I’m trying to claw my way out of so I suppose it was a good thing to go through and find things I’m proud of. 🙂  Also I couldn’t pick single sentences, so they’re small excerpts >>  Also, spoilers found in 2 – 4.

1. (Delicacy – I just really liked the tone I hit with Swindle in the opening scene, he just hit a great salesperson groove.)  "Yes,“ Swindle said seriously. "And you should never buy from someone who says otherwise. Now of course, you should always work with a supplier that you feel comfortable with, Vault, and if that isn’t me, I won’t hold it against you. But I hope that by the end of today to secure your bid, because I have every confidence in my product. I’m sure you came to me because you’ve heard of both my reputation for discretion and also my consistency and reliability of product.”

2. (Lost Wings – I like the slow crumbling of Starscream’s facade throughout this and the way it finally breaks here.) “Shouldn’t be,” Starscream managed, struggling to keep his voice level.  “I’m the one who lost–”  His vocalizer spat out static and he crumpled forward, curling in on himself as he started to weep.

3. (Last Request – Facing death, Starscream displays more emotion at the thought that there’s something he won’t be able to understand fully before death than fear of death itself.  It’s a crucial piece of Starscream to me.) Starscream immediately teeked the sympathy and his field sharpened. “I don’t like unanswered questions,” he snapped.

4. (Crossing the Line – This fic really solidified how I think of the Command Trine, and I really like this line from it.) “It wasn’t all your fault,” Thundercracker said. “I realize that now. I was standing right next to him, teeking him, and I didn’t even have the presence of mind to get him out of there. He loved you. You were his bitchy, demanding, self-obsessed Vision and he loved you.”

6 through 12? :D

6. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?

In the Transformers ‘verse… I always kind of wanted to do an origin story for TFP Knockout and Breakdown, where Knockout is a spoiled rich brat and meets Breakdown while slumming and falls for him at the beginning of the Decepticon revolution.

Non-Transformers, something I tackled for NaNo once, a world where magic is brought forward through poems.  There are those who can’t use the poetry for reasons unknown and they’re shunned, but have hidden in society.  Some grow bitter, one figures out that burning the written poems destroys the words’ power.  As the poetry grows weaker, those who had been previously unable to use magic discover different ways.  The story is a forbidden love between a High Mage and one of the non-magic ones, and what happens as one wanes and one waxes, discovering that his magic comes forward through physical motion (specifically with a sword).

7. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment?

Umm…. anything where a character is able to solve something too easily.  I’m having trouble thinking of specifics right now, but anything that cuts a recovery process short, I think.  There’s a moment in To Build a Trine with Skywarp that comes to mind that I’d probably go back and work on, as Skywarp works through his recovery.

8. Favorite plot point/chapter/moment?

Oh so many to choose from… but I might have to pick the first chapter of Delicacy for favorite chapter, and probably something later in that fic for favorite moment. Stratus’s illness in that could win plot point, too.  Basically I adore that story.

9. Favorite character to write?

Starscream.  Though I don’t think I’m very good at him sometimes.

10. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you’ve written

Umm… this chapter (it’s short, I couldn’t pick just part of it) http://archiveofourown.org/works/1074339/chapters/2179878 (NSFW)

11. If I’m showing off just one of your pieces to someone, which one should it be?

If they are okay with darkness, Delicacy.  If not … Most Unlikely of Events.

12. What WIPs do you have going now? Are you excited about them?

I have a story about G1 Starscream/Steve that I’m excited to get further into.  Cowritten, a piece bringing back Radiance.  On the far back burner, my severely overdue Optimus/Starscream Advent challenge fic.

A, B, C, L, P, S, and V? :D

A:Your current OTP.

Uh… Raphael/Leonardo, Rocket/Groot, Deadpool/Spiderman, Hotch/Reid, Optimus/Starscream.  Too many to choose from!  But that seems to be my most held dear.

B:A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind

Megatron/Starscream *gives they-know-who-they-are a look*

C:A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can’t.

Literally anyone with TFP Smokescreen.  Smokescreen/Bumblebee, I guess.  And for TMNT, definitely Donitello/April.  I can’t seem to ship April with anyone except Irma.

L:Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?

Ah, definitely art from a scene in Delicacy, when Torrent and Cirrus are finally able to touch each other for the first time.

P:Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

Transformers AU: The “science” mecha and medics were built to be interactive super computers and had no sparks, until one orn when Primus decided that was enough of that and sent sparks into all of them.  Suddenly there was an entirely new class of mecha out of nowhere, who had no rights under Cybertronian law.

S:What’s a headcanon you have?

Starscream is wildly intelligent, but he has almost no natural sorting ability in his processors.  He has very little control over his thought trains, and will shift from one unfinished idea to the next.  He’s scattered and unorganized, and it shows in his surroundings–datapads cover every flat surface.  One way he copes with this is by putting work everywhere around his living space so that when something comes to him he can start working on it right away.

V:Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what?

Oh man, so many of those.  Sunstreaker/Sideswipe/Mirage, Thundercracker/Skywarp/Starscream, Jazz/Prowl/Mirage, Prowl/Red Alert/Soundwave, Ratchet/Wheeljack/Perceptor, Jazz/Prowl/Soundwave… I could go on for a while.

What are you writing right now, if anything?

I am currently beta’ing a fic that I wrote with Gatekat for a kinkmeme heat prompt, and we’re in the process of writing one about Prowl, Soundwave, and Starscream being forced into a gestalt together.

I’m playing around with an Optimus/Starscream culture differences fic in my head, but I’m also in the middle of a cross country move, so… it’s a back burner thing.

And I want to write something Leo/Raph centric and angsty, but those bunnies are being fickle.

Perceptor

character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

ship with: Hmm… I haven’t read much of his major appearances in IDW so I know a lot of people ship him with Drift, but… for just a G1 cartoon guy, I kinda like him with Skyfire.

brotp: Starscream, actually.

general opinions: I love his G1 voice XD I like to think of him as having a really dry, deadpan sense of humor that no one ever gets, but he doesn’t mind, he’ll just chuckle to himself at the bewildered looks.  I’m a science minded person so I liked him pretty much right off the bat. And he’s hot.

Jazz and Prowl!!

character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

ship with: I definitely do ship them with each other, but I also ship: Jazz/Mirage, Prowl/Starscream, Jazz/Prowl/Mirage, Prowl/Red Alert … and I’m sure plenty of others.  Those are the first that come to mind, though.

brotp: Jazz and Blaster, Prowl and the Twins

general opinions: I like these two, I write them a lot.  Possibly too much, because lately I do feel bored with them and want to branch out.  Just, they attract so many bunnies @.@ Jazz especially I like to play with his backstory, and he has such great capacity for a really, really dark side.
