AHHH!!! I finally did it!!! I told myself I wouldn’t make any other but Star as my first finished transformers picture ! Q7Q I had to practice a lot (and I have to keep practicing how to paint metal) BUT!!!! I finally managed to do ittt >^
I cried for the whole last chunk of the movie. From the “You’ve gotta give me this” part on it was full on water works. ngl
Oh so much crying… from the moment I realized Rocket knew he was going to lose a friend today, before he even had time to really get to be friends with him.
I think what really upset me was that Rocket already had to watch Groot die. Like I know he saved him and we’ve all been blessed™ with baby Groot, but just when Rocket felt most alone/most misunderstood, suddenly Yondu came along and turned out to be that one person that can really relate to what the poor animal had to live with his whole life.
And when Yondu told Rocket that he needed to stay behind to help Quill, I could see that Rocket knew: Quill was the only one who would make it back to the ship.
And get this, when everyone yelled at Rocket and asked him where Quill was, he just said “I can only lose one friend today.” I wondered if he was talking about Quill, but what if he meant Yondu? He knew that Yondu went to save Quill. Which means he believed that one of them would return. And he could tell by the look on Yondu’s face that Yondu was going to sacrifice himself to get Quill out of there alive.
Just like Groot did the first time.
Except Rocket couldn’t save Yondu like he saved Groot
Some more spoilery thoughts about Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 now that I’ve seen it twice and am a bit more coherent about it…
SO MUCH LOVE Rocket loves Peter’s music, so cute! He pretends he does but on three separate occasions he makes sure there’s music playing for an action scene (handy soundtrack driven or not, Rocket likes the music and pretends not to, it’s canon). Rocket humming along to Southern Nights makes me melt. Like I remember the way the gravelly humming sounds and I get tummy flutters. But more on that, Groot was Rocket’s big protector for so long, and now he’s tiny and vulnerable, so Rocket has become his protector. He doesn’t have the same strength, but when it’s just them and a broken ship, Rocket either knows danger will come or realizes it is coming and sets up all the necessary traps to keep Groot safe. And those are his first words upon capture, if you promise not to hurt Groot. The lyrics during Yandu and Rocket’s Great Escape are remarkably appropriate (and subtextually shippy, of course, but that’s just me). It’s about running from an enemy that the singer knew he shouldn’t have pissed off. And we’ve got two characters who are desperately lonely and tortured in life who will come to have a connection, much like the two in the song. The line, ”I’m all alone; And the night is so long” is so descriptive for these two. YANDU AND ROCKET. BABIES. WHY. This movie showed a remarkable braveness in allowing the deep emotional vulnerability that is on display. That just doesn’t happen in movies, not like this. At least, not with characters who aren’t the main heartthrob. The movie doesn’t end on a shot of Star Lord and Gamora cuddling (and how happy am I that they didn’t go Full Hollywood and have them kiss? They went a bit far for two characters who are definitely Not Together in source material but there was no kissing, yay you!), but on a shot of Rocket with tears in his eyes looking up at Yandu’s funeral and all those who came to honor him. …can you tell who my favorite character is.
The most common hack is from someone with a bunch of h’s….
If you click it…. it takes you to this google docs “sign in” page. When in reality, google doesn’t require you to put in your password to view a document if you’re already logged in.
One you type in your password into this scam, boom. Your account is hacked and the hacker will use your account to send more scam emails.
So yeah, DO NOT CLICK ON THIS DOCUMENT. I know this is a very busy time in the school year and students have a bunch of google docs projects and essays to do, so it’s possible some people will click it thinking it’s for school. But please, be careful and don’t click on a google docs email unless you’re 100% sure someone you know is sending you one.
Please spread this around bc I would absolutely lose my shit if this happened to me during a project and don’t want any of ya’ll to go through that.
This literally just happened to my entire campus.
heads up this isnt a gmail only thing!! my mom uses yahoo (i know, i know) and she got one that was “from” my english teacher. the yahoo account might be connected to her backup gmail somehow, idk. but anyway, this is seriously happening to a lot of people, enough that my school sent out a district-wide email about it. remember the old wisdom, kids: if it seems shady, it probably is.
We got this as work from three different .gov addresses, each from a different agency. Definitely not just a gmail thing.
The cousin of “anything with eyes in it being tagged with scopophobia” is “anything with movement in it being tagged as epilepsy/seizure warning”
I should explain why this bothers me so much
I’m epileptic, I need a seizure warning tag because it keeps me from seeing shit that gives me headaches and migraines.
But I’ve had to remove it from my blacklist and just check every individual video, closing it at the first sign of strobing or flashing effects, because people were tagging stuff like
Otters playing in a river. A gif of a character bobbing up and down A vine of a baby cooing
As “epilepsy warning”.
There were no strobing or flashing effects in those examples whatsoever.
See, by tagging everything as “epilepsy warning” just because something moves is actively making my life harder because I literally don’t know at which point which videos have epileptic triggering materials and which are just plain videos and gifs
It’s counter-intuitive to having the tag at all
And if it DOES have triggering materials, PLEASE don’t use the word “epilepsy” in your warning tag. “Seizure warning,” “flashing gif,” “tw: seizure,” “strobe,” anything besides the word “epilepsy,” because we try to use that tag to talk about epilepsy, but many people with epilepsy can’t even open that tag because it’s full of so many flashing gifs from well-intentioned users.
^DO NOT use the word “epilepsy” in your warnings please
