Anyways I’ve been getting over 380,000 notes a month easily and now I’m getting supposedly less than 1,000 a day. The ‘best stuff first’ feature has downgraded this site a tremendous amount, not only is the feature destructive to smaller blogs, they also somehow fucked up the activity page, and is no longer accurate or useful.
Staff on tumblr rarely responds to unanimous disapproval unless shoved in their face, so I’m asking you guys to spread this post, and others like it around as much as possible as to get the message into their thick heads – that this greatly devolves the tumblr experience.

I just finished the episode in S2 where they introduce the painful fucking Max/Eleven jealously bullshit and frankly I’m finding it difficult to continue. BTW have we mentioned all of this “love triangle” shit is HAPPENING WITH MIDDLE SCHOOLERS? I swear to god Hollywood heteronormativity can choke.
Now, I was PISSED at the jealousy and love triangle shit they threw in with Eleven (I wish it wasn’t there at all but these kids don’t even come close to the shit I watched in middle school so I’ll grudgingly accept its existence). I understand. But I thought a lot about the “pretty” thing and while Eleven was raised in high amounts of isolation, she still saw adults around her, including women. Now, they don’t show enough to really speak definitively on this topic and if she saw enough for it, but children mimic the adults around them. Eleven would have likely witnessed but could not mimic, and I can see the “pretty” fixation as wonder with finally looking like some of the adults around her. It is not BAD to want to feel like those adults around you, or even to want to feel pretty. I think they could have done much much better with it, but as I mused over it, I didn’t find the s1 offensive quite as, well, offensive.
There is actually a TF fic that I’m betaing at the moment that hasn’t been posted yet (another Jazz/Prowl/Radiance AU – we couldn’t keep away from them). But I did have another fandom swoop in and chew my brain up, you’re right. I do think I’ll head back to Transformers when that one has ebbed a bit. The vague (and often nonexistent) canon in G1 Transformers makes it a very tempting universe to play in, and there is a wonderful array of worldbuilding to explore. The Marvel universe, conversely, has a LOT of canon which I find makes for a bit more difficult sandbox to play in.
As for when, though, I’m not sure. Historically, I have fluctuated through reading periods and writing periods, and when I’m in one the other is difficult to even do. This has been an unprecedentedly long writing period for me so I’m expecting a reading period to rear its head any time, and wonder if the fandom change was the beginning of that, because I’ve been reading a lot of Marvel fic and fics are usually the start of it.
tl;dr I’m highly confident that I will return to TF eventually but I am not sure when!
I sometimes get messages about my fics and see other authors get messages like “oh my god im sorry to bother you but-” or apologizing profusely for sending multiple asks.
I promise you guys. Absolutely 0 writers are bothered by you talking to them about their fics. If you want to know a detail or are confused about something they are almost definitely sitting ready with an answer that they are excited to talk about.
Don’t feel like you HAVE to message writers (tho if you liked a fic a lot leaving comments is great encouragement) but never apologize for asking about fics or talking about them!

If you think fictional rape and/or incest is fucked up, that’s your right. Don’t watch it, don’t read it, basically don’t consume it in any form that is uncomfortable to you. It is your responsibility to avoid it. You know what isn’t your right? Policing what others write/draw/watch or read.

I would generally argue that Altivo is a player character (probably a druid) but Animal Friendship is a lvl 1 bard spell. Miquel might have just rolled really well.
Like, people who identify as Queer know the word is used like a slur. Trust me, we know.
So when we say “queer is a slur” was started by terfs, maybe use some critical thinking and try to understand what we mean. That is, if you actually care about queer people and the damage terfs do, rather that just screaming “queer is a slur!” and ignoring the actual point.
Terfs did not like that queer was reclaimed. End of. This is a fact. Queer was too broad, too accepting, and embraced all the people they wanted gone. And I know y’all exclusionists feel the same but get pissed when we point it out so you deny it, but sit down and listen for a minute.
Queer was the preferred term for poc. For bisexuals. For trans people. For people with multiple identities. It neatly encapsulated everything, and was a friendly community to those who felt thrown under the bus by mainstream LGBT activism. It was a political and social statement, “you treated my like I was different and weird, and guess what? I am and that’s something to be proud of.”
So the response? “You can’t use that word. Its bad. Its a slur.”
And at the time, a lot of people rolled their eyes. Everyone knew why they didn’t like the word and brushed that off. It was fine.
So they started more subtly. “Just so you know this word is very harmful and is a slur so be careful how you use it :))) in case you didn’t know :)))) its a slur :))) friendly reminder :))) for the sake of other people of course :))))” type shit on every post involving the word, including and especially posts simply mentioning self identification.
Always worded in friendly, concerned ways, like the derailment was meant to be nice and considerate, and not about normalizing their rhetoric.
And what happened because of that was a younger generation of community kids growing up with these statements being thrown at them and absorbed on every. Single. Post. That. Mentionioned. Queer.
The result? That same generation of kids cutting it all short, removing the meant-to-be-palatable niceness, to just say “queer is a slur.”
Exactly how it was originally intended. “Queer is a slur.” People drop on posts where young queer people talk about it being a self identifier that actually fits them. “Its a slur,” they comment, with nothing else, on posts they clearly didn’t read past that word, written by people twice their age who had reclaimed it before they were even born.
Its nasty. Its disgusting. It’s plain old bigotry, whether the people saying know it or not. It is a terf tactic, plain and simple.
And no one wants to deny that it is indeed used as a slur (right along with all the rest of our identities.) No one wants to be insensitive and force it on people who haven’t reclaimed it.
But invading queer people’s posts to spit “queer is a slur” is flat out queerphobic. You do the dirty work of terfs, of cis straight oppressors, by saying in one simple sentence: “its a dirty word, there is no pride in it, you haven’t/can’t reclaim(ed) it.”
And regardless of your actual intentions, when you do this, that is EXACTLY what you are communicating and doing.
“Queer is a slur” is a terf movement. Stop fucking supporting terfs just because you want to pretend like it isn’t.
This is why I block people who say ‘Queer is a slur.’

Well I do love Jazz, but unfortunately my love of him paired with Prowl is hindering my ability to think of any fics that have Jazz self servicing atm (and the only fic with Jazz-as-carrier with a birth scene coming to mind is pretty dark. Not a happy story). Orrr, wait, there’s Gatekat’s The Most Unlikely of Events. That’s got Jazz as a carrier toward the end.

The Military Lord and the Hero’s Creation by Gatekat and Starsheild has Jazz as carrier and at least one Jazz self servicing scenes if I remember right. I’ll have to go through my bookmarks and see if I’m forgetting any. Blind Search has carrier Jazz but I can’t remember if he self services in it.

The Most Unlikely of Events has two authors, gatekat and Verilidaine. I was the primary writer for Jazz in that piece and I’m immensely proud of my work there.
