wake up america

this is to educate my non-American followers. This really is how the US sees itself. (and yes, 95% of the time, Florida = WHAT?!)

In Florida the more North you go, the more “South” you get

In Florida the central part pretends to be the south, the western part pretends to be the northeast and the south pretends to be the west I’m not even kidding you

… Please tell me you guys are kidding.

Florida is like it’s own country I swear

I’m from Florida and I can confirm this. Also, South Florida is basically Miami and alligators.

oh, i always assumed florida was part of The South?

north florida is yes. The rest is not.

I’m from Florida, and grew up in SC/NC.
Can confirm all true. 👍

Um. This is so wrong.

You’re forgetting the part where California sees itself as its own entity.

We do not want to be grouped in with everyone else, thanks.

clearly none of you have ever met someone from texas

I’m so glad someone mentioned Texans because yes ^

#there is a southeast united states
#it’s savannah georgia
#that’s it  #just  #savannah georgia

Still not completely accurate.  New Mexico and Arizona make up the Southwest which is definitely a cultural region apart from the rest of the West states.

midgardian etiquette 101: when going to their homes, hang your coat first or in some cases, your mjolnir.

naw maybe it’s actually asgardian custom to check your weapons at the door

It was medieval custom to check your weapons at the door of the meadhall before greeting the king of the place you were going to. It was courteous and showed respect. You can see it in Beowulf.

what i don’t understand is how that hook can hold the mjolnir.

the hook is worthy

the hook is worthy

Peter Pan would disagree.

I’ve not read the comics but I always figured Mjolnir wasn’t heavy so much as stubborn, and if it decided it didn’t wanna move it just wouldn’t. It sits on Loki, rather than crushing him in Thor 1, and in Avengers it rests on the floor of the ship, and trying to pick it up Hulk starts breaking the floor with his weight, but Mjolnir doesn’t seem to weight anything at all (If it was as heavy as Hulk implied, it would drag the whole ship to the ground right?). Mjolnir isn’t heavy, cos its not going down, instead it is a fixed point and everything else just moves around it. Hence, the hook doesn’t hold it, it merely remains in place.

so what you’re trying to say is that Mjolnir is like a chicken head

instead it is a fixed point and everything else just moves around it.

OK SO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING
IS THAT WHEN THIS HAMMER WAS FORGED IN THE HEART OF A STAR IT BECAME A FIXED QUANTUM POINT
AND THE UNIVERSE MOVES AROUND IT—AND THOR IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE PROPER RESONANCE TO INTERACT WITH IT ON A QUANTUM LEVEL
AND SO HE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE LEVERAGE REQUIRED TO SHIFT THE REST OF THE UNIVERSE AROUND THE FIXED POINT THAT IS MJOLNIR

THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE

DUDE YOU GUYS SCIENCED THORS HAMMER THAT IS AWESOME

i just… can’t have this not on my blog.

This got really sciencey really fast and my mind is blown

LOTR’s concept artists designed the films as a “journey back in time”

lotrfansaredorcs-the-white:

So (according to the concept art book) as the Fellowship travels deeper into Middle Earth, the places they pass through become inspired by progressively older periods of history. The farther along you are in the story, the more ancient the design influences

We begin in The Shire: which feels so familiar because, with its tea-kettles and cozy fireplaces, it’s inspired by the relatively recent era of rural England in the 1800s

image
image
image
image
image

But when we leave Hobbiton, we also leave that familiar 1800s-England aesthetic behind and start going farther back in time.

Bree is based on late 1600s English architecture

image
image

Rohan is even farther back, based on old  anglo-saxon era architecture (400s-700s? ce)

image
image
image
image

Gondor is way back, and no longer the familiar English or Anglo-Saxon: its design comes from classical Greek and Roman architecture

image
image
image
image

And far far FAR back is Mordor. It’s a land of tents and huts: prehistoric, primitive, primeval. Cavemen times

image
image

And the heart of Mordor is a barren lifeless hellscape of volcanic rock…like a relic from the ages when the world was still being formed,  and life didn’t yet exist

image

And then they finally reach Mount Doom, which one artist described as

“where the ring was made, which represents, in a sense, the moment of creation itself”

Tom Holland does Rihanna’s “Umbrella” on Lip Sync Battle

I’m literally zendaya reacting like he didn’t have to go that hard and yet..

every time i watch this when the reveal hits and he starts dancing i’m like “oh ok that ain’t a big deal he’s just another celeb doing a gimmick” but somehow by the end of this video without fail i am filled with respect for him and zendaya for being like…a powerful gen z couple who both give off chaotic bisexual vibes

i think it’s the irreverence with which he splashes the water

that was a classic that was a classic

It’s a good time to remember that Tom Holland is a trained dancer and that initself is a gift

He’s trained in ballet, too, which is what makes this even funnier. I saw a video (also with Zendaya in it) of him doing like, fifteen fouettes in someone’s basement. GET A MAN WHO CAN DO BOTH.

anyone who says they would rather be an avenger than a guardian is a fool. the guardians go on constant outer space adventures with a talking tree set to 70’s dad music. plus they would all love and literally die for each other. what do the avengers do? assemble for five minutes then get into a walmart parking lot fight and never see each other again. fuck you.

Infinity War Spoilers

howlingdawn:

Ok that Infinity War pod scene between Rocket and Thor, everyone talks about Thor. And I know. Chris was amazing, the whole thing was heartbreaking.

But Rocket.

Sure, he didn’t have to say anything terribly emotional, at least not like Thor did, but that one line: “Ok, time to be a captain.”

There is so much character development right there.

Mr. “You like a professional asshole or what?” “Pretty much a pro.” Rocket just willingly opened up honest and emotional communication with a near total stranger. He offered Thor a listening ear, tried to make him feel better, and he never once judged the man for crying. He never even made any overtly sarcastic comments, aside from maybe “Well, he’s never fought me.” “Yeah, he has!” (which, pretty much anybody would’ve said that, because Thor honey, that’s not how logic works).

And the one time he brought up his own family, it was just mumbling to himself once Thor was as out of earshot as he could get in that little pod, nothing meant to rub it in Thor’s face like he might’ve done years ago. (This line is also mega character development from “…you push away anyone who’s willing to put up with you ‘cause just a little bit of love reminds you of how big and empty that hole inside you actually is.” Now here he is, openly admitting in front of that near total stranger that he has a home and a family that he wants to protect and get back to.)

He took the captain title as a joke to annoy Peter and get his own way, but then he actually followed through on the responsibilities when most people would’ve just been like “Not my division” and let Thor suffer in silence.

As much as Thor’s section of the scene wounds me deep in my soul, Rocket’s role in it just makes me smile so hard.

This was one of my favorite moments. As soon as Rocket said his time to be a captain line, I thought he would be picturing Yondu and their encounter before Ego, when Yondu in that moment was what Rocket needed, even if he didn’t know it.

For the most part, I was underwhelmed by Infinity War. But I loved that moment.
